When Should You Call an Oral Surgeon?
When you or someone in your family requires oral surgery, such as dental implant placement, wisdom teeth removal, dental bone grafting, or treatment for facial trauma, it's time to call the offices of Utah Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are specialists who received additional training after dental school. That means that Drs. We accept patients from throughout Utah with or without a referral from a general dentist. If you are ready to experience the very best oral and maxillofacial surgery, contact our team today by calling (801) 224-1200.
Our Featured Services
Wisdom Teeth Removal
The oral surgery we perform most often is wisdom teeth removal. Most of us don't have enough room in our jaws for our third set of molars. That's why we tend to require wisdom teeth removal during the later teenage years or early twenties. If the wisdom teeth are not removed, they can cause dental misalignment, discomfort, and oral health issues. Drs. Burton and Rasmussen make wisdom teeth surgery as stress-free as possible at our offices in Orem and Saratoga Springs, UT.
Dental Implant Surgery
Dental implants replace the roots of lost teeth and connect crowns, bridges, or dentures directly to the jawbone. As board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Drs. Burton and Rasmussen are specialists in the placement of implants. Patients from throughout Utah travel to our offices in Saratoga Springs and Orem for implant care. We can coordinate with your primary dentist so that your dental implant treatment is efficient and effective.
Bone Grafting
One of the consequences of tooth loss is jawbone atrophy. When a tooth is no longer stimulating the jawbone, it becomes weak and starts to shrink. If this process continues for too long, the jaw can become too weak to support dental implants, and the weakened bone can cause additional tooth loss. Fortunately, oral surgery can address this issue. Drs. Burton and Rasmussen can place grafting material in your jawbone, strengthening the bone and helping you qualify for implant surgery.
Treatment for Facial Trauma
A serious facial injury can cause significant damage to the jaw and teeth. Our doctors at Utah Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are trained to offer emergency care after a facial injury. We work with local hospitals to treat patients who are suffering from broken jaws, knocked-out teeth, facial lacerations, and more.
Sedation Dentistry
Many patients delay oral surgery because of anxiety. At Utah Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, we offer several forms of dental sedation that can help nervous patients relax during their procedures. Our options include light sedation with nitrous oxide, moderate sedation with oral medications, deep sedation with intravenous (IV) medications, and general anesthesia.
Our Oral Surgeons are Here For You 5-Star Reviews
The staff was amazing. Very personable and friendly. Dr. Rasmussen was very good at communicating and explaining the procedure. Our son was very anxious and scared. The anesthesiologist was super cute with him and SO patient and took time to show him her tools/instruments. The instructions they gave us for after the procedure were very clear. We hardly had to wait to be seen at our appointments. Definitely going to go back if we ever need some sort of oral procedure done again.

From working with his billing department to the nurses and the doctor everyone was great! I knew exactly what to expect going into the appointment and post appointment. There was no anxiety or stress associated with the extraction. I would highly recommend Dr. Rasmussen to anyone needing any oral surgery!
